Turns out there are quite a few stylish folks in Charlotte, NC.  Natalia and Mike were two of the best examples.

Belle ‘n’ Beau of the Week: Theo & Peggy

January 31, 2012 § 2 Comments

After a much needed weekend retreat to the farm in Alabama, we decided to feature two of the most stylish Southerners we know.  Here they are folks, the eternally chic Theo and Peggy Lee.  Maybe style is genetic.

Monochromatic Menswear

January 30, 2012 § Leave a comment

Where womenswear is concerned, a black-on-black ensemble has been (and will remain in perpetuity) one of the chicest go-to options.  However, this particular monochromatic look rarely (if ever) translates to menswear and leaves a beau looking contrived, macabre, and/or just plain ridiculous.

So, we posed the question: What is the beau’s answer to the belle’s black go-to?  Turns out, the beaux have multiple monochromatic options where outfitting is concerned.  (Also see previous Beau of the Week Justin.)

The Look: dinner jacket, Austin Reed; shawled cotton peacoat (interior), H&M; driving loafers, Cole Haan; button down, pants, belt, all American Apparel.

The Look: trench coat, Burberry; penny loafers, Cole Haan; cardigan, button down, slacks, belt, all American Apparel.

The Look:  blazer, vintage; driving loafers, Cole Haan; overnight bag, vintage Samsonite; sweater, pants, belt, all American Apparel.

Belle ‘n’ Beau of the Week: Mary and Mitchell

We spotted Mary in Buckhead wearing a sporty but sophisticated look.  She was also carrying the coolest vintage Louis Vuitton bag.

We ran into Mitchell at the Atlanta Contmporary Arts Center, dressed dapper as usual.  Between Mary and Mitchell’s different takes on a simple white button down, you can really see how important this piece is to any wardrobe.

Thanks again, Mary and Mitchell.

Step Into the Light this Spring with these Lovely Pale Hues

January 18, 2012 § 4 Comments

Tis the season for PASTELS!  Well, almost anyway…

Not only do these lovely pale shades remind us of our beautiful, and may we say very chic, grandmothers, Yaya and Nannan, but pastels also have relevance today, as they appeared time and time again in so many of the Spring 2012 RTW collections.

Pastels are a welcome departure from months of bright neon and blaring prints and are actually quite flattering on all skin tones.  Here we’ll show you how to make them modern by pairing these pale tones with neutrals.  It’s easy and fun!  You’ll discover a whole new way of looking at the blacks, grays, tans, and cremes in your wardrobe.  Pastels are also really easy to pair with other pastels, making color-blocked looks an absolute breeze!
